Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Bike Tour Guide, you will learn multiple positions within Granby Ranch. Starting with your main duty being a professional customer facing guide. This guide will focus on safety, education, and engaging with guests providing an experience worth repeating while leading tours on our 5,000 acres of private property. Full-time guides are also expected to work hand in hand with our Rentals and Slope Maintenance departments to receive 40 hours weekly.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Bike Tour Guide)
- Provide interactive, friendly, fun, engaging guide experience for guests.
- Become certified
- Teach basic bike/hike skills as assigned.
- Attend training clinics as scheduled.
- Must have navigation skills and local trail knowledge or the ability to obtain working knowledge prior to start date.
- Report to tour meeting area as scheduled and on time.
- Always adhere to all safety requirements and standards.
- Follow appropriate children’s center procedures when assigned there.
- Act as a positive, professional role model, adhering to the company’s hospitality standards.
- Maintain an exceptional level of guest service in all interaction with guests, fellow employees, and management.
- Preferred previous experience in outdoor education; trail guiding and bike tours.
- Must be available to work 5 days a week, holidays & weekends (July 1-9, 2023 required).
- Time management with each group assigned.
- Punctuality
- Working of single and double track trails.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Trail Maintenance)
- Maintain and improve Cross country and Downhill bike trails at Granby Ranch.
- Remove and clear trees, pick up and remove rocks and other debris from bike and ski trails.
- Maintain wooden features within bike park.
- Construct new trails as directed by Supervisor.
- Build water diversion structures maintain existing drainages.
- Fell trees and perform sawyer work as required for trail maintenance.
- Operate heavy equipment including, but not limited to, skid steer, back-hoe, mini-excavator, four-wheeler, or mules.
- Assist with trail maintenance for community trail systems.
- Assist in trail improvements for ski runs including but not limited to revegetation, water bar improvements, boundary post placements, mowing of ski trails, and other summer trail improvements.
- Look for better ways to serve the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Bike Repair)
- Maintain bike rental fleet keeping bikes in good working condition.
- Provide quality, professional repairs and service to guests’ bikes and equipment.
- Ensure all paperwork is completed, organized, and stored appropriately.
- Complete all aspects of assisting guests with bike rentals, including paperwork, adjusting, and fitting rental equipment, and answering guest questions.
- Clean, organize and maintain all equipment, counter tops, and facilities in shop daily.
- Must be able to stand, walk, ride for duration of shift.
- Must be available to work 5 days a week, holidays & weekends.
- Must know how to repair tires, chains and inspect bikes.

- Maintain an exceptional level of guest service in all interactions with guests, fellow employees and other department managers.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Act as a positive, professional role model, adhering to the company’s hospitality standards.
- Have knowledge of the products and the offerings from the resort.
- Basic first aid/CPR certified.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES (for all departments)
- Highly developed customer service skills.
- Ability to comprehend, speak, read, and write English fluently.
- Ability to handle guest interactions, both positive and negative, in a professional and courteous
manners. - Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
- Knowledge in leave no trace and guiding principles.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Climbing stairs, walking, and locating guests outside when necessary
- Bike for extended periods at a time.
- Hike up to 10 miles a day.
- Work with hand tools.
